Random Building Stone

Random Building Stone

Random building stone is cropped from large blocks of sandstone, limestone, granite or slate. It provides a naturally rustic building and walling material that weathers beautifully and is maintenance-free. Random stone is popular with house builders and specifiers for projects of all sizes, from private domestic commissions to large commercial developments. This natural stone is also ideal for building imaginative garden features such as raised beds, retaining and boundary walls, pools and ponds.

Random Tumbled Building Stone

Random Tumbled Building Stone

The tumbling process softens the edges and faces of natural building stone, giving it an aged appearance. Walls, buildings and garden features built using tumbled stone have a matured and mellow look, as though naturally weathered. It’s ideal for heritage projects and renovations, but looks just as good in contemporary new constructions such as barn conversions and eco builds. Our random tumbled building and walling stone is is available in sandstone, limestone, granite or slate.

Coursed Building Stone

Coursed Building Stone

Of all our products, coursed stone is probably the easiest and quickest material to work with when building a natural stone wall. Pre-cut to regular heights, this stone is a favourite with architects because the finished construction precisely replicates the original design. Its simplicity also makes it a popular choice for DIY as well as professional builders. Coursed stone walling gives a modern, uniform appearance with a choice of pitched face, split face or tumbled finishes.

Vintage Building Stone

Vintage Building Stone

At Black Mountain Quarries we have created a unique new range of building stone which blends random and coursed blocks together. Our Vintage Building Stone range offers good quality traditional building and walling stone at great value. Available in sandstone and granite, vintage walling stone offers a more traditional feel than coursed stone, and can also be tumbled for a more weathered / antique appearance.

Stone Panelling System

Stone Panelling System

TIER® is a natural stone panel system that delivers the impact of genuine stone walling without the need for specialist stonemasons. The stone panelling is available in two ranges: one contemporary and architectural, the other akin to dry stone and random stone walling. Each panel rises in interlocking tiers, with a seamless finish that creates a natural stone appearance in extraordinarily quick time. Ideal for cladding both interior and exterior walls, in commercial or domestic environments.

Quoins

Quoins

Our natural stone quoins (also known as cornerstones) are cut from solid masonry blocks. They are sometimes also known as split-faced or pitch-faced quoins. Traditionally used at the corners of a building to frame its architecture and strengthen its construction, quoins are also great for landscaping in private or public gardens. A choice of hand dressed or sawn finishes is available in sandstone, limestone and granite.

Commercial Cladding

Commercial Cladding

Natural stone has many advantages over other commercial cladding materials. Our ashlar and rainscreen panels are made from real sandstone or granite, which are aesthetically pleasing as well as highly durable. Natural stone panelling weathers gracefully over time. Although cast and reconstituted alternatives may be cheaper in the short term, the longevity and low maintenance of natural stone cladding makes it a more economical choice over the lifetime of a building.
