Callow sandstone rubble is very misshapen, random heights, lengths and shapes. Cladding slips are 15-25mm in thickness, they make it a lot easier to use rubble stone to get the affect you require in less time.
Country of origin: United Kingdom
Quarried by ourselves from large boulders, we saw then split it along its natural beds to create random building stone with a riven surface. From these solid stone pieces we then saw a slim face to create our Callow Rubble Cladding Slips.
All our natural stone slips are suitable for cladding internal and external walls, and for house-building and landscaping. At only 15-25mm thick, they can be fixed directly to walls like a heavy tile. Easy to apply and with an unlimited daily build height, they are ideal for both professional use and for DIY.
L-shaped corners create the appearance of ‘full-thickness’ solid stone walling, but being so slim in format means they are also ideal for new builds where space is at a premium.
We are able to cut our natural stone cladding slips from our full range of natural stone products, including Random, Vintage, Coursed, and Tumbled cropped walling stone.
- 15-25mm thickness

What are natural stone slips?
Our stone slips have a sawn back and natural front, and are cut to a thickness of 15-25mm. (The reason for the variation is the riven face, with every piece being unique). The heights and lengths are naturally random, giving the appearance of a traditionally-built natural stone wall. You might also hear the slips referred to as fascias or thins.
In comparison, our traditional random building stone is cropped to a 100mm–150mm (4 -6 inch) bed width as standard, making it a larger and heavier stone.
For more detail on how we create our slips, plus technical info and FAQs, please see our Natural Stone Cladding Slips information page.
How are the cladding slips supplied?
We stack our natural stone cladding slips into crates containing 20m2 per crate. A full crate will weigh approx. one tonne.
Comparing this to traditional building stone – where a one tonne bag of 4-6in facing stone will cover 3-3.5m2 of walling – you can see how our natural stone cladding slips offer a considerable saving on haulage, as well as space on site.
An important note about natural stone
Whilst we have done our utmost to ensure the stone and colours displayed on our website are accurate, they are to be used as a guide only. Because stone is a natural product, texture and colour will vary from piece to piece. As we work through the quarry, seams will yield slightly different coloured and shaped stones.
The building technique, quantity, colour and type of mortar used will all impact on the look of the finished product. Please bear this in mind when ordering stone products. For larger projects or any projects where a specific look is required, we recommend that test panels are built.
